Three in one day? Holy soaring pancakes.

2 07 2008

Yup, that’s got to be some sort of record.

I figure I’ll lighten up the mood around this blog and uh.. clarify a few things to any potential readers who’re reading and getting worried over my mental welbeing.

It’s true that I rage alot, that’s one reason I made the blog, so I’d have a specific place to unleash my rage, as I for one find it amusing to look back several months at my rants and go “heh.. funny” and so forth. Maybe it’s just me.

On the other hand, I really like being angry, I find it a great way to relieve stress, infact, I’m pretty much angry all the time! Anger at work (or rather, the idiots who I have to put up with) leads to anger at games, in which I crush AI over and over.. then you get games were you fight other people, which I enjoy alot, but the previous point stands. I get so angry at it, my rage has gradually built up over the years, I never used to get angry at all.. *sigh*

It all started with World of Warcraft..

Nowdays I throw fits of rage that are so fabulous that if they had a colour, it’d be pink. Got busted on GTAIV and lost my $50,000+ collection of guns? I’ll hop outta my chair and prance around the room cursing, that’s a unique type of rage, as it’s.. more frustration than anything else, as it’s my own fault really, I shouldn’t have got in the car etc.

WoW rage is the only rage that’s actually not uh.. good, so to say. WoW rage gives me headaches, makes me feel like I have brain tumors, along with the fact I feel like I’m about to set on fire. My old monitor, the CRT, got punched and knocked about a hell of a lot after OH LOOK RESIST LOLOLOLOLOLO in a battleground or something similiar, no doubt, because there’s -nothing- you can do about it, and as I’ve mentioned before, I’m very unlucky.

On the bright side, I feel like I’m progressing in Brawl fine, I can notice my effort paying off, to the most part.

In all honesty, although I love fighting games alot, I really prefer co-op games.

I like easy co-op games, why? ‘Cos.. it’s the only thing I don’t really rage at, I can relax (me relaxing = normal people fighting for their life against a mutant alligator whilst falling from the top of a skyscraper) and just shoot stuff.

That being said, I love a challenge as much as the next Plant, I’ll do Gears and Halo on Insane and Legendary, sure, I’ll do DMC4 on Hell or Hell mode, hell, I’d do NGII on Super Ninja God Mode if I had it, that being said, just mucking about is real fun.

Brawl online With Anyone still hasn’t found any matches.

Calm.

Wufffff.. anyways.. I’ve been looking about for fun MP games that I can play over hamachi with my friends recently, JK2 and CSS being prime examples, when we can get 6 or so people together, it’s pretty fun to muck about shooting each other, I suck at Counter Strike, but I don’t really care most of the time, I’m not quite sure how you’re meant to get good at FPS games, I guess it’s mainly experience, I got fairly good last year when I was playing it pretty much every day.

Right now I’m looking for some Sci-Fi stuff, I’m still pining for a great Sci-Fi MMO, if made right it could be so mind-blowingly awesome.. just imagine, you log in, walk out of your in-game house, then you hop into your hovercar and zoom along happily to the market to see if your UltraWool has sold, then OH HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT THERE’S TWO TITANIC SHIPS BLASTING THE CRAP OUT OF EACH OTHER IN THE LOWER ATMOSPHERE..!!!! THAT’S LOST WILL AND FORCE OF CHAPTER ISN’T IT? (injokeinjokeinjokeinjoke) WOW THEY’RE SO HUGE.. AAH ONE OF THEM IS CRASHING, HOLY CRAP IT’S LIKE 1000 TIMES BIGGER THAN ME RUN AWAY AAARRGHHHH IT’S GONNA LAND ON MY FACE.

You get the idea. I want a SciFi MMO where you can have your own ships, manned by like 10 people, which are absurdly huge! Or maybe a smaller pirate ship, which you and a handful of likeminded raiders skip about on, stealing from traders and keeping an eye out for Bounty Hunters and law enforcers.. mmmmm.

For now though, I have my eyes on Diablo 2 and AVP2, Diablo 2 has clicking which is ehhhhhh.. I don’t know how many people you can have in a game, but if I can have like me and 4 others hobbling about stabbing stuff it could be fun. AVP2 is Alien Versus Predator, which I’m pondering over, not sure whether to get it or not..

GOKU YOU HAVE TO TRAIN.. BACKWARDS.

2 07 2008

Hurray, I just spent a good 3-4 hours practicing at DOA, learning combos and which ones out prioritsed others and frames and all that..

Then I go online and do worse than ever as the timing is 100% different.

Great so I can’t practice offline as it fucks up timing, and I can’t practice online because that’s fairly obvious, YOU LOSE RATING FOR EVERY MATCH, FRIENDLIES = RETARDED AH-HAH-HAH.

It’s not like I particularly want to, but I essentially have to give up actually getting GOOD at DOA4 as it’s impossible to get good from merely playing alot, I need to know how to do some combos and stuff, WHICH I CANNOT LEARN AS IT’S LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE.

Seriously what the hell is up with that, you’d think they’d try and make the online like.. better? Take Brawl for example, if it played like melee, it’d probably suffer from the same problems, but they slightly simplified the gameplay in terms of how much data is being sent and recieved, the result? I can do exactly what I can do offline online pretty much, in DOA, for example, I had a combo which is:

P.   <-P K

Being punch, delay, back punch and kick, thanks to the lag online, this is what happened.

P.

Then I got obliterated.

Another example, a 180 degree spin on the pad and then grab, what happens when I try do it? It doesn’t register the information and I get punched, mc/sigh.

It’s somewhat depressing that the only way I can get better at DOA is by playing over and over and not actually learning anything.. it’s somewhat ridiculous when you think about it, DOA is combo based to an extent, whereas Brawl has 0 combos in the game preset, that is to say, you make your own combos. Only in DOA you CANNOT USE offline combos that require any degree of timing as you practice and perfect ‘em offline, go online and can’t use ‘em as the timing is SO different. Whereas in Brawl you can, that’s just retarded, the Wii has terrible online compared to the 360.. or so you’d think.

Make DOA5 more online friendly please, Tecmo or Itagaki or whoever the hell makes it.

Meh I’ll still play it, but I’m gonna take a break for a few days so I forget and unlearn all the combos I just fucking pummeled into my brain over like 4 hours.

Sure is backwards progression around here.

In the meantime I’ll go play Brawl, the irony is hilarious to me, the more “simple” game by far turns out being more complex as I can actually concieve tactics for it, sure I could do the same for DOA if I only played offline, but I don’t live in fucking California, I don’t have 100 people in my road who all play fighting games. I live in England. I know 2 people who live within 100 miles of me who have DOA, one of them doesn’t like it.

Woopity doo.

In the meantime have a terrible quality video of me and Thors playing a match back in late 07, when we got A rank, so.. probably when we were at our best, again, as I said a few posts ago, I don’t consider anything below the top (that is, SS) to be properly good. How do these online people get SS, by just doing it OVER AND OVER? I’m fairly certain if an online player fought an offline player they’d get crushed, sadly.

Hey, I could do what they do, and just play online so much I can utilise my own combos, taking 10,000 matches to get them right.. I just don’t want to. I don’t want to try and practice stuff in the middle of a match, as it just frustrates me, frustration makes me angry, anger powers my blog, have you not wondered why there’s been like 5 fucking posts a second? It’s because I GET SO ANGRY.

Anyway, here’s a video,  Me (Ayane) Thors (Ein) VS Generic A/B ranked Hayabusa user.

RRRR I just noticed youtube obliterated the quality, I’ll assume it’s because I didn’t convert it from shitty phone format, oh well, re-uploading (as an uncompressed 400mb .avi lawl) it.. I’ll replace it in due course, in retrospect, I should probably have compressed it. Oh well.

Well.. if it’s 100 miles, then it’s 3 people, but the third hates DOA with a passion and only plays Smash Bros 64 and Soul Calibur II.

Tekken Sucks

2 07 2008

I may as well keep up this trend of updating once a day for a few more days at least, even if nothing much is happening, well, something is, technically.

Thors’ found some interesting news.

So a new BoF game potentially made by Camelot, devs of Golden Sun..? That’s combining one of my favourite RPG’s with the other one, in theory only good can come out of this, well, we’ll have to wait and see I suppose.

Now.. I’m going to unleash some information that is top secret which I recently discovered, now, you might think “lolololo that’s not good information at all”.. but trust me, when I began putting this into my Brawl game, I suddenly gained THE POWER.

What is it, Kaonazhie?

WHAT IS IT, LANT?

PLANTO-KUN TELL MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.

Very well.

Spot Dodge.

What?

That’s right, spot dodging is amazing in Brawl, I’ll admit I rarely if ever used it in Melee, it just didn’t seem useful to me, but my god, in Brawl it’s absurd, spot dodge, tipper, spot dodge, grab.. spot dodge, attack, this might seem obvious to you “new” players of Smash Bros, but in Melee the uh.. general accepted way of competitive play, at least what I did.. and I came 2nd (yes I know I say that alot, but it gives me credibility) is ALOT of aerials, why? Aerials in melee had no lag, Fox, Marth and Falco, the three best characters in melee, all had very strong aerials, broken, infact. Combine L-cancelling with wavelanding and the fact that Melee had longer hitstun than Brawl does, and you could pretty much 0%->KO somebody with one string of lag cancelled aerials.

LOLOL OMG THAT’S LAME YOU ALWAYS SAY TEKKEN IS JUST ONE LONG JUGGLE FEST ROFLLLLL.

Yeah true, but stringing together those aerials is not fucking easy, even I who played Melee from release till Brawl’s release, and had previously played Smash64 for several years was never amazing at it, in Tekken you can just juggle somebody fucking easily, I’ll admit in principe it’s the same, whomever lands the start of the chain wins.. but Smash has recovery, so if you air dodge the spike or finisher, you can still get back on the level and continue to fight.

Hey, I’ll let you be the judge.

Now, this may be fairly biast as I’m comparing a video of the two best Smash players in the world (the generally accepted #1 is Ken, afterall, Isai has a fucking amazing Falcon) with some random youtube video of tournament Tekken.. lol, last time I saw a video of an american DOA tournament, oh my god, they were both MEGABAD, but oh well, I highly doubt Tekken is like Melee in that when you get good at it your character seems to be moving 3x faster than somebody who just started playing, Tekken is a horrible fighting game.

VS

It even has KOREANS PLAYING. I’ve not even watched it yet, but I know how horrible Tekken is.

Oh wow, I just watched it, my god. Is there even a grab button in Tekken? Nice, the gameplay is about as deep as something I could make in RPG maker, no kidding. Virtua Figher is an example of a slower fighting game that is somewhat complex and tactical, at least from my memory of it, yet I still rank DOA and Smash Bros at the top, I won’t comment on SF and those anime 2D games as I don’t like how they play, just a personal thing.
